Eat Evolved

You are what you eat. Eat what you've evolved to eat.

Working up an appetite

Today, a couple of co-workers and I decided to walk the five or so blocks to the Statehouse to take part in the ongoing protests involving Senate Bill 5 here in Ohio. While I am steadfastly against this bill, I must admit that I had ulterior motives in going down there. First off, the brisk walk was good exercise, and the near-cloudless day ensured that I got my daily dose of Vitamin D. Finally, and just as importantly, it meant that I could have lunch at one of my favorite spots in the city, El Arepazo.

El Arepazo is run by some Venezuelan folks, and are probably best known for the completely non-Paleo cornmeal sandwiches called arepas. Well, that, and their ridiculously good cilantro sauce. My favorite offering is called patacon, which consists of a plantain smashed flat and fried, topped with meat (I like it with tilapia or shredded beef), tomatoes, avocado, lettuce, banana peppers, and cheese, and of course some of that addictive cilantro sauce. I couldn’t even finish mine today, and all that yelling had gotten me hungry!
